Telia Nevile (she/her)
Melbourne-based writer and performer Telia Nevile combines storytelling, poetry, ridiculous interpretive dance, cabaret and punk to create shows that will make you laugh, let you cry and remind you that you’re not alone.
Her most recent solo shows – What Would John Hughes Do? (a punk cabaret about the expectations and realities of growing up: 2020 Melbourne Fringe Best Cabaret Nominee), Untitled No. 7 (a modern fairytale about the curse of potential and the holy grail of success: 2018 Melbourne Fringe Best Performance Nominee, 2019 Green Room Awards Best Cabaret Writing Nominee, 2020 Fringe at the Edge of the World Best Performance Nominee) and Poet vs Pageant (an epic poem pitching an awkward poet into the blood-soaked arena of a beauty pageant: 2015 Melbourne Fringe Best Emerging Writer, 2017 Montreal Fringe Best Late Night Moment, 2017 Montreal Fringe Best English Performance Nominee, 2018 NZ Fringe Most Innovative Work Nominee) – have received critical and audience acclaim across Australia, New Zealand and Canada.
Telia maintains a photographic practice exploring the retention and creation of memories, and the ever-tempting world of constructed nostalgia. She's a dog-lover, a potato-addict, and the webmaster for the Magnificent Weirdos.
